Book 15 on my “March to 100 for 2019″—Brian Meeks: Mastering Amazon Ads—Helping to unravel one of the most mysterious social media ad platforms.
In various roles over the years, I have successfully used social media advertising on a number of platforms. If you tell Facebook or Twitter you want to spend $100 a day, they will gladly take all of your money. Every authorized penny. Whether or not the ad works is totally your problem. Those social media companies will show your ad to whoever you tell it to (unless the user blocks your ad).
Amazon’s first goal is to sell products. Therefore, they want the people who visit their website to enjoy the experience, so they work hard to show ads that will appeal—and, importantly, not annoy—that consumer. Thus, you can give Amazon a budget of $100 a day, and they will rarely—read, never—spend it all. In fact, sometimes, an advertiser struggles to get them to spend a penny.
But Amazon is also the world’s largest online bookseller (okay, the world’s largest bookseller period), so learning how to reach an audience on Amazon is a critical skill for an author. A skill I lack.
Meeks’ book (and his popular social media groups that discuss his strategies) are not for the faint-hearted. Let’s just say those who don’t like math might really struggle to engage. But the math is critically important because you need to understand the various ratios. Brian walks you through the formulas as well as explain the importance of marketing skills like copy editing, presentation, etc.
A niche book, but an important one if you are in the niche of advertising on Amazon.
