Book 99 versus my goal of 100 – J.T. Ellison: Edge of Black. Yes, I think I might actually get to my goal with two days left in the year. Reading book 100 right now.

My two favorite things about J.T. Ellison are her heroine, Homicide Detective Taylor Jackson, and the obvious love for the city of Nashville where the Jackson novels are set. Edge of Black has neither of those.

Edge of Black is set in the Washington D.C. metro area and Colorado and features Dr. Samantha Owens. Sam is not a new character; she was the head of the medical examiner’s office in Nashville and worked with her best friend Taylor to solve murders. But she has moved to the D.C. area to start a new life teaching. Great idea except a terrorist attack and her boyfriend, former Army Ranger Xander Whitfield, drag her back into the frontlines of crime and mayhem.

Ellison weaves a compelling mystery, creates a strong cast of supporting characters, and never lets up on the action.
