Cam Lasky, the Steak King of Atlanta, faces disaster. His signature restaurant—the only one in the chain making money—caught fire. With debts coming due and business partners clamoring for profits, how can the celebrated chef recover?

Jade Lasky faces worse. A mysterious man appears in too many places for it to be a coincidence. Unnerved, she’s distracted as she pulls into the garage with her two young children and doesn’t see the masked man waiting for them.

Held at gun point in their own home, Jade, her nine-year-old daughter, Beatrix, and six-year-old son, Baxter, fear for their lives. Following instructions, she calls Cam, tells him what’s happening, passes along the demand for a oddly-specific ransom and a short deadline, and cautions him not to call the police.

Facing the impossible, Cam struggles to gather the money while Jade works to keep the kidnapper calm. As the clock ticks down, the future grows grim for the family.

I recently discovered this author Kimberly Belle and have started reading her books. They are the kind of books that keep you reading long past bedtime. I have enjoyed this book and a few of her others. The plan is to read all of them, as she is one of the most interesting authors I have found
