Technically, this is the second book in the Whistler series, but it can easily be read as a stand-alone.

Lacy Stoltz is an experienced investigator with the Florida Board of Judicial Conduct charged with investigating corruption or incompetence among the judiciary. Despite her seniority and skill, she is not prepared to handle allegations that a sitting judge is an active serial killer.

No law enforcement agency is even aware a serial killer exists despite a distinctive signature left by the killer at each crime scene. Because the murders happened in different states with long gaps of time in between, no one has connected any similarities. Jeri Crosby, the daughter of one of the victims, has been pursuing her father’s killer for two decades and has spotted the pattern. She has also discovered that each victim has some connection with Judge Ross Bannick. She shares what she has uncovered with Lacy.

The connections, however, are tenuous, often with years between the connection and the murder. No physical evidence points to the judge. To build a case, they must investigate and investigations might draw the attention of Bannick. If he really is a killer, the danger is high. And if they are wrong, they risk tarnishing the sterling reputation of a member of the judiciary.

Do they dare risk being added to The Judge’s List?
