Sunrise Time Lapse – Summer – July 2015

A friend takes a great deal of time lapse photography and has challenged me to practice.

Like much about photography, I have a great deal to learn about capturing light. Time lapse photography makes this particularly challenging since you have to capture light consistently in hundreds or thousands of photos. When photographing a sunrise or sunset, the amount of light is changing which makes the entire process even more challenging. Still, the only way to learn is to practice – a lot – and I have decided to share one of my attempts.

With a beautiful weekend in store and a perfect day to shoot a time lapse of sunrise. I tackled this view from our house.

A combined 1585 photographs at f/11 and an ISO of 100 with varying shutter speeds as the morning brightened – assembled at 30 frames per second in Premiere Pro.
