Someone murdered Daniel on a London houseboat, but the police have too many suspects.

Laura has a troubled history with law enforcement and habit of lying and theft. Eyewitnesses place her on Daniel’s boat the last night of his life and leaving the next morning, but she swears he was still alive when she left, despite their fight.

Carla is his aunt, but her relationship with him is rocky. The long-ago death of her own son happened when the boy was trusted in the care of her sister, Angela, Daniel’s mother.

Theo is Carla’s ex-husband, though the two of them still have a close relationship. He’s a formerly successful author who hasn’t written in years and has a rocky history with Daniel.

Miriam, Daniel’s neighbor, discovered the body and has her own dark history as the only person to escape a murderer when she was a teen.

Evidence mounts, but points to different suspects, as the past unravels to reveal what actually happened to Daniel.
