Book 44 on my “March to 100 for 2019″—Lisa Gardner: The Guy Who Died Twice—Boston detective confronted with a locked-room murder mystery.
Famed Boston Homicide Detective D.D. Warren shares the tale of her most mysterious case ever—a man who shows up to the police department to report his own death. Detectives gently turn him away with concern for his mental health, but a few hours later, he has been stabbed to death in his own home.
Confronted with a very dead corpse, the detectives have a limited pool of suspects—the victim’s wife, his personal physician, and the staff that works in the palatial home—chauffeur, chef, housekeeper, gardener, and manservant. No one else would have had access and every suspect had opportunity.
As a quick read, this novella is a great opportunity to experience Lisa Gardner’s writing style.
