A woman hears a noise in the middle of the night. She discovers a hulking man sneaking through her house. She quietly gathers her two children and sneaks downstairs. The old house has many quirks, including a small, hidden room tucked under stairs. The three of them hide in the claustrophobic space, but keeping her two young children quiet is nearly impossible.
Her only option is to race to a neighbor’s house for help, but it’s freezing cold and snowing. What if the intruder hears her slipping out? She would be faster alone, but would the children be safe without her? And since she has never met the neighbors, will they even answer the door and help?
Who is the intruder? What does he want? Why does he seem vaguely familiar? Why do her kids call him the Cornerman? Is he even real?
