The Lincoln Lawyer, Mickey Haller, led the charge to find a wrongfully convicted man innocent. The stride when he first walked out of prison came to be known as the Resurrection Walk.
The publicity from the case caused a flood of claims of innocence from incarcerated people, but Haller knew most were guilty. To find the rare exception, he enlisted his half brother, retired LAPD detective Harry Bosch.
The first case that they find that seems to fit the bill bothers Harry, though, because Lucinda Sanz is imprisoned for the murder of an LA Sheriff’s Deputy who also was her ex-husband. As a retired LEO, Harry doesn’t like working for the dark side of lawyers, much less one trying to let a cop killer go free.
The evidence seems overwhelming. Lucinda tested positive for gun shot residue. And she took a plea deal.
Yet the more Harry looks at the case file, he’s bothered. The murder weapon is missing even though the police were on the scene quickly. No one took the time to investigate alternative theories. And the murdered deputy was involved in unsavory things.
The courtroom battle begins.
