Vida was raised by her late great-uncle to appreciate the wilderness that surrounds her. She respects the wild animals, and they respect her, especially a pack of wolves and an albino mountain lion. Haunting her, though, are the prophecies of a fortune teller she visited as a child that foretold of dangers and grief.
Vida mourns the loss of the love her life, José Nochelobo, a local folk hero who shared her enthusiasm for nature. He died in a tragic accident, though Vida suspects his death wasn’t quite what it seemed. Despite her suspicions, she’s accepted that she can’t change things.
Until a local powerful figure confronts her with a despicable option, submit to his will or lose everything she has left. He underestimates Vida’s resourcefulness, but their conflict attracts attention from the man’s associates. They want the forest she loves for their own purposes and will stop at nothing to take it.
But the Forest of Lost Souls doesn’t yield so easily.
