We are visiting Cumberland Mountain State Park near Crossville, Tennessee. Bright blue skies and sunshine greeted our morning walk. The calm waters of the reservoir reflected perfectly, which created this beautiful view of Byrd Creek Dam.
The dam was constructed by the Civilian Conservation Corps, the largest masonry structure they constructed. The facing is Crab Orchard stone, a sandstone common to the Middle Tennessee area.
The peace and quiet of the morning carried only the sound of rushing water over the dam and the honking of geese enjoying the man-made lake.
As always, you can click on the photo for a full-size view.
That is just stunning. I love and truly appreciate old architecture. They definitely don’t make anything like they use to. Have a wonderful time on your vacation.
Beautiful!!
