A former marine and sheriff’s deputy, Nathan Waymaker lives in a rented room in his cousin’s funeral home. During the day, he works funerals or retrieves new corpses. As he explains, “I handle the bodies.”

When a celebrated local minister dies, the sheriff’s office calls it a suicide, but not everyone is convinced. Parishioners pay Nathan, with his former deputy connections, to investigate. He figures it’s easy money, except for the fact that he left law enforcement under dark circumstances.

When the minister’s daughter, an adult film star, returns for the funeral, she shares a much darker secret about her father. As Nathan digs, he finds a sinister undercurrent that ensnares many celebrated citizens—and puts Nathan’s life at risk.

But Nathan’s past is far more checkered than everyone knows. And he has friends with special skills. As he gets closer to the truth, he must use every dirty trick he’s learned to uncover what really happened.
