Best Valentine’s Day Gift?

The big day in February is Valentine’s. Just in time to help you decide what to give to your loved ones, I asked my readers, “If you could pick only ONE thing, what would be the perfect Valentine’s Day gift?”

I expected a strong showing for “something else”, but have to admit that 60% was surprisingly high. Fortunately, many added their suggestions, so I will share several below.

But I would be remiss if I didn’t point out two key results. First, a large number of the candy respondents mentioned they buy the sweets AFTER Valentine’s. Nothing wrong with hitting the sales and saving money.

Second, flowers received the most emotional support. One answer summed it up perfectly, “Flowers are beautiful and a lovely Valentine’s gift.”

But now let’s focus on the other category. What do readers think is the perfect gift?

Time

I would enjoy a special day date planned. Maybe revisit a favorite spot or explore somewhere we’ve been meaning to go but haven’t made it there yet!

A lovely evening out. Doesn’t matter what it is or where we go, or even if it is on Valentine’s Day, as long as some thought has been put into it.

A day spent with my better half doing a fun date day.

Food

Romantic, candle-lit dinner at home with a good wine

Dinner out is always good!

Feed me, preferably STEAK that I don’t have to clean up after 🙂

We always cook a nice meal together and have a really good bottle of wine (or two).

A nice dinner . . . not even necessarily at a restaurant. Sometimes that is too loud and crowded. But a thoughtful meal, good wine, and relaxation.

Travel

A romantic getaway for two to a destination both would love to go to.

Gifts

A gift from my favorite store

Jewelery, please!

I love gift cards!

A spa day! Filled with massage, manicure/pedicure, facial, maybe a detox type body wrap. Lots of self pampering us women need, and love, but rarely give ourselves.

These two are somewhat similar

Something silly & sentimental.

I firmly believe that a Siberian Husky is that perfect gift that keeps on giving!

Whatever you choose to do, I hope you have a very happy Valentine’s Day. And go take this month’s survey here.

The gift of a Sibe is a stellar idea, as long as there are many people to be owned, walked and deliver training and pampering by said fur family member.

My husband and I treat ourselves to a trip to Aruba just about every Valentine’s. No cards, candy or flowers. Time together on a sunny beach to beat the winter doldrums is one of the best ways to reconnect. We are celebrating our 35th anniversary this year in June. My mom was born in Asheville, and I was once Miss North Carolina USA. Do you know Chris Pennington? He’s a local author, he might be at the local book signing? I love staying at the Bohemian near the Biltmore house. And I love Asheville!
    Lucky YOU!

Darn! I wish I’d thought of a Sibe! That would be the perfect gift—-and if we are dreaming big, how about a year of pre-paid vet bill! Haha!

Reader Surveys

Each month, I survey readers on a random topic. I might ask about books, reading, and authors, as this is my primary focus. Some months, the survey focuses on the mountain region that has been my home. Other months, the query will be something completely random. The debate over mayonnaise might be the most contested ever.

In time for the monthly newsletter, I summarize and share the overall results and some of the highlights I learned. To protect privacy, I don't attempt connect the data in anyway to individuals and then delete the responses.

The following is the result of one of those surveys. And if you want to participate in this month's survey, just click the button.
