Horses in the Fog

After over a week of rainy weather, it was nice to get out today. The horses in the fog next door at Cataloochee Ranch seemed to agree and were enjoying a beautiful fall day, despite the low lying clouds.

As so often happens, the horses were disputing our right to drive the ranch road to our house. Or, more accurately, they don’t really care but plan to take their own sweet time crossing the road, We never mind since it is their home, after all. I just take pictures of the horses crossing in front of us.

The rains certainly removed a lot of leaves from the trees, but the color ranges in the long views was still beautiful. The fog and low lying clouds mute the colors of Mother Nature, but sunshine should return by Tuesday to make the colors jump. The rains have not been hard enough to knock the leaves down yet, so we expect the colors will peak this weekend at our elevation.

The sun slowly burned the ridge-top fog away and the horses enjoyed the sunny, blue skies while grazing.
